| SEPTEMBER 29, 2003 ~ Congratulations to Roxane who will be taking a leave of absence from the Broadway company of Chicago in order to play Anita in West Side Story at Northshore Music Theatre! She will leave Chicago October 6, 2003 and will return December 1, 2003. West Side Story is playing at MA's Northshore Music Theatre October 28 through November 23, 2003. Catch this production if you can -- I know I will be there!!!
I know it's been a while since my last major update, so I hope you have all had a wonderful summer. In the past few weeks I have added a TON of new pictures and there are loads more to come! :) Be on the look out for them all! JUNE 9, 2003 ~ Many congratultaions are in order... First of all to Roxane and Tracy for an astounding run together as Roxie and Velma. This week I wittnessed some of the most riveting performances I have ever seen. Brava Rox and Trace -- you did a phenomenal job and I'm more proud of you than I have words to express! Big congratulations are also in order to former Mama Morton, Michele Pawk on her Tony win last night! Michele took home the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play as Lousie in Hollywood Arms. Congratulations Michele -- we're all so proud of you! To view a picture of Michele accepting her Tony, please click HERE MAY 15, 2003 ~ Please note: Tracy Shayne's run as Roxie has been extended through July 10, 2003. Tracy is a must see and not to be missed! For more information, please visit her Official Website. APRIL 28, 2003 ~ Roxane will be on vacation April 28, 2003 through May 5, 2003. She will return to the company Tuesday, May 6, 2003. APRIL 16, 2003 ~ We'd like to warmly welcome our dear friend Tracy Shaye to the company of Chicago in the role of Roxie Hart! Her opening night was last night, April 15, 2003 and she will run through Sunday, May 18, 2003. She is by far the most talented actress ever to grace the stage as Roxie, and I promise you she will NOT disappoint! MARCH 7, 2003 ~ Congratulations are in order! The Official Roxane Carrasco Website is the winner of the 2003-2004 Golden Web Award for excellency! A team of web design experts have perused the site throughly and awarded it based on content, user friendly navigation, display and overall user appeal! Yippee! (couldn't contain myself there for a second!) FEBRUARY 17, 2003 ~ It's official! We are now www.roxanecarrasco.com! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the site - whether it's news, pictures or reviews! I greatly appreciate it! We wouldn't be where we are today without you, the fans! There have been some email contact changes, so please take note. You can now contact us via the following email addresses (and remember to update your address books accordingly!): Heather: Heather@roxanecarrasco.com Roxane: Roxane@roxanecarrasco.com Mailing List: Updates@roxanecarrasco.com FEBRUARY 16, 2003 ~ As you all may have noticed, the site is undergoing some renovations. Rest assured it will stay up and running during this process. But please bear with me if some links are not functional, or some pages appear to be missing - all will be well in the end. Keep your eyes peeled for the new and improved Roxane Carrasco Website! JANUARY 29, 2003 ~ Chicago is officially all moved into it's new home: The newly renovated Ambassador Theatre on West 49th Street. It's a smaller theatre, so you could definitely say that a show already as intimate as Chicago, has gotten more intimate. The stage is not very far from the front row and it is not as high up as the stage at the Shubert. I must say personally, it was more than a little weird to be seeing Chicago there. Though, in due time, we will all get used to the purple seats, intimate environment, and new rush policy... or lack thereof. Yes, the rush policy has been changed. The days of seeing Chicago from the front row for $25 are a thing of the past. The Ambassador has created a policy of it's own. No more wristbands will be handed out first thing in the morning - you will have to sit and wait on line until the box office opens at 10am (or 12 noon on a Sunday). In addition, the seats are now partial view in the wings of the orchestra. I am told the seats are a pretty good view - but seeming as today was the first official show, I haven't tried them out for myself yet. Time will tell. :) Speaking OF the first show, our favorite diva, Roxane went on in the role of Mama Morton. As always, she manages to make the role all her own, and made me forget every Mama who has proceeded her. I was lucky enough to see her first Broadway performance as Mama (on her birthday!!), and then again today. My how she has grown in the role! There is always something fresh about the way she portrays whatever role she is in. As one patron today summed it up: "You know, I would have thought Mama would have been a bigger woman... but she's so cute and tiny, I can't help but love her" For those of you who may not know, Backstreet Boy, Kevin Richardson has joined the cast as Billy Flynn. He is wonderful - and has done a great job of making the role his own. He's definitely worth a trip (or 2 or 3...) I urge you all to take a trip up to the Ambassador and support Chicago! Sometimes it can be tough to re-locate, and while I don't have a doubt in my mind that they will do wonderfully wherever they perform, it's always nice to have some familiar faces in the audience whopping it up the way no first-timer would know how to. DECEMBER 26, 2002 ~ Brief news: Pick up the BCEFA Carols for a Cure CD - Roxane introduces Chicago's Christmas Song.... It's a little racy, but definitely fun and worth a listen (or two or three or four....). Also, for those of you with HDNet tv, they are airing a backstage special all about Chicago the Musical. There are lots of clips of numbers being performed onstage, and plenty of shots of Roxane. It's half an hour long and definitely worth a watch (yours truly happened to find it on a tv in her local Circuit City and had to stay and watch the entire thing). NOVEMBER 22, 2002 ~ Well, it is time for a long overdue update... Can't believe it's been this long! In the past month, Roxane has had the pleasure of going on as both Mama and Velma (not in the same performance!) - how thrilling that must have been! Chicago recently celebrated it's 6th Anniversary with a star studded performance and party at the Time Hotel. At the Anniversary show, I caught up with Chicago alumni, Tracy Shayne (2000 Tour and Broadway Roxie) who is doing wonderfully. Also ran into the 2000 Eqiuty Tour's Fred Casely, Brian Carmack, who is also keeping busy. With the likes of Ann Reinking, Walter Bobbie, Barry and Fran Weissler, Joan Collins, James Naughton, Caitlin Carter, Deidre Goodwin and Mamie Duncan-Gibbs (as well as countless others) in attendance, this was surely a night to remember Caroline O'Connor and Billy Zane have recently joined the Broadway company (as Velma and Billy, respectively), as well as Rob Bartlett whom we welcome back with open arms. They are all phenomenal and you should stop by the Shubert when you get a chance! Chicago's former Mama, Michele Pawk can currently be seen in Hollywood Arms at the Cort Theatre. Her perormance is flawless, and I highly recommend the show! Current Mama, Roz Ryan is a nightclub diva! She is putting on a cabaret Monday nights for the month of December at Danny's Skylight Room. Email me for details. December 18, 2002 CHICAGO will be hosting Education Day once again. The day will include a Mock Trial, Key Note Speakers, learning the lyrics and choreography to All That Jazz, and a question and answer session with select cast members. Roxane AND yours truly will be participating in this one, so look for pictures and updates coming soon :) In movie news, CHICAGO the movie will open in theatres December 27, 2002. The soundtrack will be available for purchase beginning January 14, 2003. And in moving news, Chicago will play it's last performance at the legendary Shubert Theatre on January 26, 2003. It will re-open at the Ambassador Theatre with a 2pm matinee on January 29, 2003. Hope everyone is well.... and GO SEE CHICAGO!!! :) SEPTEMBER 22, 2002 ~ It's official. CHICAGO will move from it's current home, The Legendary Shubert Theatre, to the Ambassador in early/mid January. As of now the official move in date is January 3rd, but of course that is subject to change. At today's BCEFA Flea Market, the cast of Chicago posed in costume for photos after the matinee, as well as having a table with "Mama's Home Cookin". Photos can be seen in the Professional Gallery. SEPTEMBER 15, 2002 ~ Chicago performed in today's Broadway on Broadway 2002. Roxane, Taye Diggs and the girls performed "All I Care About". For those of you in the NY and Greater NY Area who were unable to attend and didn't get to see the live webcast, it will be televised on NBC (channel 4 in NY and CT) Tuesday, September 17th at 7pm. This is definitely not to be missed! Also, important casting changes... Roxane will not be Velma the 17th - 20th. It was decided that Donna Marie Asbury will play Velma the whole week. By all means, catch Chicago anyway! Roxane is a KILLER Annie!!! (and for anyone who wishes to join me, I will be there the 19th - look for me if you're there... I'll be in the front row) SEPTEMBER 6, 2002 ~ Important Schedule Notice: In observation and rememberance of all those who perished in the attacks of the World Trade Centers, CHICAGO will be dark on Wednesday, September 11, 2002. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. SEPTEMBER 3, 2002 ~ Well, I am absolutely thrilled to announce that Roxane will be playing Velma for 4 performances. September 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th at 8pm! Don't miss it! I know I will be there! Also, in Chicago related news, Taye Diggs will be joining the company on September 19, 2002, in the role of Billy Flynn. He will be joined at a later date by Charlotte d'Amboise as Roxie, Deidre Goodwin as Velma, and returning in the role of Amos, the incomprabable P.J. Benjamin. Mama will continue to be played by the sassy, brassy Roz Ryan. AUGUST 10, 2002 ~ Well hello again Roxane fans everywhere! Thank you to everyone who has emailed me, as always your support is overwhelming! My vacation was wonderfully relaxing and I am thrilled to be back. There are new pictures in the Professional Gallery (Thank you Gregory Jbara and his webmistress, Barb) and the sound clips will be running soon (I'm having technical difficulties! If anyone has any suggestions I am open to them!). In Chicago related news, there is almost a completely new company. Husband and wife, Michael C. Hall (of HBO's "6 Feet Under") and Amy Spanger (Chicago alum) have joined the cast as Billy and Roxie, respectively. Jennifer Frankel (Mona) has left the company to persue other endevours and has been replaced by the incomprabable Michelle DeJean. Long time Amos, P.J. Benjamin performed his final "Mr Cellophane" July 7, 2002 and Rob Bartlett stepped into his shoes. Hard as they may be to fill (we all love P.J.), I hear Rob is doing a bang up job! And of course, last but certainly not least, the phenomenal Roz Ryan has begun her run as sassy, brassy Mama Morton. This company is definitely NOT to be missed!! So go out, support Broadway, see Chicago, and have a blast. Tell them Heather sent you! :) Enjoy the rest of your summer! JUNE 30, 2002 ~ I am happy to report that I saw the show last night and the entire cast is in top form. Roxane was amazing as always - and incredibly fierce with the new, curly hair style on stage! The only time I have enjoyed a perfornace more was when Roxane was Velma with Michele Pawk as Mama. I must say, this cast is absolutely amazing and Bianca Marroquin is a talented and absolutely hysterical genius. Roxane was right in saying that Bianca's performance is amazing! My advice to all of you, is within the next week, go see Chicago! Go see this top notch cast, and have a great time! Also - I will be on vacation from July 15 - July 21, 2002. Anything that may happen to warrent updating on the site, will be posted and updated upon my return. JUNE 18, 2002 ~ Roxane has returned to the role of Annie and is doing as wonderfully as always. I saw the show Sunday night (on a whim) and I must say it is in it's best shape ever! George Hamilton has returned to the role of Billy Flynn, and Stephanie Pope has reprised her role as Velma Kelly. On July 30, Roz Ryan (Broadway and 2000 Chicago Tour) will be reprising her role as Mama. This cast is a must see and NOT to be missed!! And thank you one and all for helping to make this website a success!!! As of today, we have reached 1300 hits! Here's to 1300 more! :) Now, go see Chicago and cheer for Roxane and this talented cast! JUNE 2, 2002 ~ Roxane will be on vacation this coming week. Michelle DeJean (I am told) will be covering the role of Annie in Rox's absence. Roxane will return to Chicago, Tuesday June, 11. Thank you to all who have sent me pictures! I appreciate all the input and enthusiasim for Roxane and the website! :) MAY 20, 2002 ~ Greetings all! Due to high traffic volume on the site this past weekend, I am very pleased to announce, that I now own this site! Well, I rent it, but same difference! BUT in any event this means you have all been visiting! And I thank you profusely!! 1000 hits and going strong! All thanks to you great fans and supporters!!! In other news, some cast members of Chicago will be performing on Rosie O'Donnell's last show this coming Wednesday, May 22, 2002. Set those VCR'S!!! Tri-state area, ABC (channel 7 here in CT) 10am! Don't miss this! As you may have noticed, I have finally gotten up the pictures Roxane gave me a few weeks ago, in addition to a few other new ones. Thank you Roxane! As always, this site is a constant work in progress - always growing and changing - and I thank everyone who has contributed! "Keep on Rockin!" MAY 6, 2002 ~ Roxane has returned to the role of Annie. I am VERY pleased to say I finally got to see her perform this role yesterday. As she is with every role on stage, she is absolutely amazing and incredibly hysterical as Annie! Yet again, adding a Latin flare to the role, it is a take on Annie I have never before seen. Roxane is a DEFINTE must see!!!! (then again, she ALWAYS is!) Coincidentally, Roxane was also seen on this morning's Today in New York. Chicago hosted Education day a last Wednesday, in which tri-state area students participated in a mock trial, learned the lyrics and movements to "All That Jazz" (those LUCKY kids!!!), and had a question and answer period with Roxane and Belle (and other cast members as well, I believe). There was a great shot of Roxane on stage with Belle, and if you missed this, you missed out!!! (What I would pay to be a student again and participate in Education Day at Chicago no less!!!) And as always, thank you to everyone who has contacted me - fans and friends of Rox's alike. It have been great to hear from all of you!! Keep your emails coming! :) APRIL 20, 2002 ~ Thank you again, to everyone for your kind words and warm wishes, to both Roxane and Myself. What a long strange trip it has been. But fun indeed, and I thank you all from the bottom of my Chicago loving heart! I am happy to inform you that Roxane is doing well; Keeping audiences rolling in the aisles with her take on the Annie monologue, and her plethora of entertaining expressions. As always, it is a thrill to see her onstage no matter what role she is performing in. I am also happy to report that I am FINALLY getting a new scanner, so more pictures will be posted very soon. I will also be getting some more picture from Roxane, which will be posted in the near future as well. As always, your fan contributions are welcome and more than appreciated! Also, to all you NY area residents (and those who will be visiting in the next week), Roxane will be headlining as Velma Kelly for the next week. Beginning this Tuesday, April 23, and running until Sunday, April 28. Come show your Roxane-Love and see her in Chicago! Her Velma is the best by far (then again, I am a bit biased!) and not to be missed!!! MARCH 25, 2002 ~ On behalf of Roxane, I would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support and encouragement. Personally, it was incredible to hear the applause and wonderful onstage welcome for Roxane on her closing night. Everyone I have spoken to has loved her performance - and that is a wonderful thing to hear. Each review has been more spectacular than the one before and it thrills me to know that Roxane's performance was loved and appreciated as much as it was! To everyone who has written to me, I thank you! It has been wonderful to hear from both fans, and friends from Roxane's past. Please keep your emails coming! Don't forget to go see Roxane play Annie in Chicago. She has an open ended run :) Thanks again for all the support, help and encouragment! MARCH 3, 2002 ~ The time has come for a LONG overdue update. Roxane is doing very well. Receiving wonderful reception from audiences alike, Roxane is throughly enjoying her run. Speaking of, her run has recently been extended a week to March 17th. Congratulations Roxane! When her run is finished, she will be going on a well deserved vacation, and then returning to the Shubert and Chicago to play the role of Annie. Now here is where I reach out to all of you. I would like your help. As you all know, I (with the help of Roxane) am building this site from the ground up. I am looking for contributions. Did you grow up with Roxane? Go to school with her? Do you remember her when she was a Diva In Training? Email me! I would love to post your comments (or gushing) on the site!
